WhatsApp is actively making changes and introducing new features. The Meta-owned messaging app has introduced more features like increasing the number of WhatsApp group members, blocking screenshots of one-time viewing of messages, custom avatars and much more. Here are 5 more features that are currently under testing and will be available to everyone soon.

WhatsApp for tablets

WhatsApp has released a beta version for tablets, which will soon roll out to everyone. The messaging app plans to introduce a new in-app banner called “WhatsApp for Tablets” that will appear in a future update, informing users that a tablet version will be available.

WhatsApp communities

This is one of the major updates to the instant messaging app. With this feature, users can combine multiple groups under one umbrella. This can be useful for workplace, neighborhood or parenting groups as these groups will be able to connect and communicate more easily. Group administrators are responsible for creating and managing Communities and can choose which groups will be part of the Community by linking existing groups or simply creating a new group.

WhatsApp group chat polls

Another feature being tested is chat polls for Group Chats. Pooling users can add up to 12 options to a poll, and Group members can select more than one option when voting. Only the creator of the poll will know who voted for which option.

WhatsApp video call limit

Now you can start video calls with up to 32 people. It helps users organize larger group calls or larger team meetings.

Image upload quality section

WhatsApp has now added a dedicated “Photo Upload Quality” section to the settings menu. This new feature allows you to share the best quality photos with your family and friends or send compressed photos with the Data Saver option. Compressed images do not require a lot of data. You can also select the “Auto” option, which allows the app to decide the quality of the image being sent.

Blocking the use of the one-time viewing feature on the desktop

This is not a feature being added, but rather a feature being discontinued. Desktop users will no longer have the ability to send media as a single media view. The reason for disabling this feature for desktop users is to add another layer of security that prevents screenshots of media once viewed.
