It’s been an interesting year in the weird and wonderful world of car branding. From Audi’s new branding to the controversy over the unreadable new Kia logo (Google searches for ‘KN cars’ are through the roof), we’ve seen some buzz. And with only a few days left of the year, we may have seen the most brutal of motor vehicle accidents.
Social media users can only see that Volkswagen Italy has fallen to that which most new brand endeavors have failed – the name-used-aaaand-a-time-something. Like the famous #susanalbumparty before it, @volkswagenitalia is rolling. What a sentence. (Just kidding? Check out the best failed designs of all time.)

Well, put the words ‘Volkswagen’ and ‘Italia’ next to each other, remove the space and make the words smaller, and what do you have? It’s a mental state that the brand doesn’t like, that’s what it is. Suddenly, KN cars don’t disappoint.
It seems that most of the internet is hoping that Volkswagen Italia will not change the username. And judging by the lack of response (even if it is serious, how will the brand respond to this?), @volkswagenitalia will not go anywhere. Instead, the username has become associated with the world’s worst brand (and, er, Anal Malaysia), in the famous cock market.
