Nick Carter, brother of the late Aaron Carter, has posted a message via Instagram mourning his brother’s death while admitting it was a “difficult” relationship.
Aaron Carter was found dead in the bathroom Saturday at his Lancaster, Calif. home. Nick Carter is currently in the UK on the last leg of a tour with his band the Backstreet Boys. The band will appear tonight at the O2 stadium in London.
In a statement on Instagram (see below), Nick Carter began, “My heart is broken today” next to a photo of the couple from the past.
“Even though my brother and I had a difficult relationship, my love for him has never faded. I held on to hope that maybe, one day he would want to walk the path of health and find the help he so desperately needed. Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for the illness. But the truth is that addiction and mental illness are the worst here. I miss my brother more than anyone knows. I love you Chizz., now you have a chance to find peace that you can’t find here on earth…God, Please take care of me my brother.”
Among the responses to the message was Spice Girl Emma Bunton, who wrote: “I’m so sorry for you and your family. Sending lots of love.”
