More Google apps are optimized for tablets and flip phones | Tech Reddy

Google is working hard to better support large-screen devices like tablets and flip phones. Accordingly, Google is updating a bunch of Workspace apps, adding drag-and-drop improvements and full mouse support. This could be due to the fact that the company is working on the Google Pixel tablet which is expected to be released soon.

In an official blog post, Google announced that Google Slides no longer supports dragging and dropping text and images from one slide to another. In fact, you can try another app from one slide if the other app supports this feature. As other Google apps also support this feature, it can be useful for you when you are working on different Google apps.

Google Drive, the cloud storage app, now lets you drag and drop files and folders in Drive in single-window and dual-window mode. Previously, it allowed users to drag and drop files and folders to upload them to disk. Finally, Google Docs now fully supports the computer mouse. Now you can select the text by clicking and dragging the left mouse button.

All of these features introduced for a bunch of Google Workspace apps show that Google is gearing up its apps for big-screen devices soon. There’s no word on when Google plans to release the Pixel tablet, but it’s clear that it’s got everything ready before it arrives.

The company is rumored to launch a Pixel tablet in 2023, and it will go up against Samsung’s popular Android tablet, the Galaxy Tab S9. It is widely speculated that Google may also launch a ‘Pro’ model of the Pixel tablet as direct competition to the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.
