Hours later Networks guardian Kyrie Irving Suspended by his team for not publicly apologizing for his promotion of an antisemitic book and film on social media, Irving posted an apology on his Instagram.
“While I was doing research on YHWH, I posted an article that contained some false accusations, rumors, and language that was false and offensive to the People/Jews, and I took to be responsible and accountable for my actions,” Irving wrote. “I appreciate the opportunity to share knowledge and I want to move forward by having an open conversation to learn more and grow from this. It hurt you, I’m sorry. … No Your question is intended to disrespect certain Jewish traditions about the Holocaust or to perpetuate hatred.”
Irving spoke to the media earlier Thursday and refused to apologize for promoting the antisemitic film.
Meanwhile, Irving is suspended for “no less than five games” without pay. He will reportedly meet with NBA commissioner Adam Silver next week.
