Instagram offers a new mapping experience to users | Tech Reddy

Instagram this week read it a new mapping experience now available to users on iOS and Android. With this new experience, users can discover other places nearby and see what others are sharing there.

Instagram has a feature that allows users to browse other people’s posts on a map. Now Meta’s platform is adding more functionality to this feature, making it a way to find new restaurants, cafes, and even parking lots. This feature, of course, is based on bookmarks that users can add to their posts and comments.

You can search for a specific location in the Browse tab or tap the location icon on a post or Story to see what’s nearby. Then, the Instagram app shows other popular places on the map so you can see more posts and stories shared in those places.

To make the search easier, Instagram offers quick filter options, such as for restaurants, cafes, events, bars, and hotels. When you find a site you like, you can save it for later, send a direct message, share it with someone or follow their Instagram story. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a statement shared on the social network that the new map will help users to find local businesses.

Instagram is working hard to introduce new features as TikTok, its main competitor, has grown. Earlier this month, Instagram launched a subscription feature to allow creators to monetize their content.

For the new mapping experience, it is now available for users running the latest version of the Instagram app on iPhone and Android devices. You can download the Instagram app for free on the App Store.
