How to use unwanted cell phones and tablets for soldiers | Tech Reddy

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Do you have an old cell phone or tablet that you want to get rid of? Why don’t they consider bringing it to mobile phones for soldiers?

Collection is in progress until December 11.

Mobile Phones, valued at $5 for each phone or tablet donated, can provide soldiers with 2.5 hours of free talk time via business cards.

All proceeds from recycled devices will be used to purchase long distance calling cards and other communications services for troops at home and abroad.

This is the sixth year that state Sen. Joseph Griffo (R. – 47th District) and AT&T have worked together on a fundraising drive.

“I think we should recognize and remember our service men and women, especially on holidays, so this is an opportunity for the average person to contribute to those who have served our great nation and sacrificed so much,” he said. Griffo.

Residents of the Griffo district donated approximately 5,801 devices and provided more than 500,000 minutes (over 8,300 hours) of free calls to the troops.

If you’d like to donate, you can drop off your devices in the collection bins at AT&T stores throughout the region and at several public locations in the senator’s area, including the Lloyd’s of Lowville kitchen.
