SAN ANTONIO – A former Bexar County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Wednesday after an investigation found he allowed inmates to use his cell phone to make social media videos, Facetime calls and phone call
Matthew Pacheco, 21, was arrested without incident at his home and charged with possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility – drug/telephone, third offense.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office was notified Oct. 11 of an inmate posting videos on Instagram, according to a news release.
The Unit Integrity Unit launched an investigation that revealed Pacheco had given the inmates a cell phone, giving them access to the locker room where they could call the operator’s cell phone, the official said. read news.
The inmates also made a FaceTime video call with Pacheco’s cell phone, then recorded the screen and posted it to social media, BCSO officials said.
During the trial, Pacheco resigned from the force on October 17 and issued a general release. He was arrested on Wednesday.
Pacheco has worked with BCSO for more than two years.
