What is Grainery?
Grainery is a website and mobile app for photographers. As Instagram becomes a platform for everything from posts and news to short videos, it’s become less and less useful for photographers.
This explains some less popular platforms, such as VSCO and Grainery. In fact, many photographers are switching from Instagram to VSCO.
The developers want Grainery to be familiar but it has a unique feature that those shooters will love. The Grainery is available on its desktop site, iOS (Beta), and Android (Beta).
For the best iPad experience, visit the desktop bar and then add a shortcut to the home screen. It appears as an application without using the iOS Beta, which is only available on mobile phones.
Grainery Layout and User Interface
The format will be very familiar to those who come from Instagram.
Home Page
A small change that Instagram users have been missing for a while now is the series of photos on the home page from the users you follow. Other than that, Grainery’s home page is as you’d expect, with likes, comments, sharing, and save options all in one place.
The Browse Page
The eyes icon will take you to the explore page. This is better laid out than Instagram. There will be an option to view popular cameras, view selected content, and check the latest and most active posts on the board.
Your Profile
Your profile will look exactly like your Instagram. It’s easier to find saved posts, however, with more tabs. When writing, there is no option to organize your saved posts into folders.
Since the website and mobile app are still up-to-date, errors are rare. Sometimes, not all posts you save while exploring the Grainery are saved. Also, if you switch from the Upload tab to the Save tab, you’ll lose your saved photos; This can be fixed by refreshing the website or restarting the app, but it can be annoying.
Everything in your story will work fine, however. You can write a description of who you are, include a link to your website and add your device.

One of the best features of Grainery is knowing which camera body, lens, and film the sender used to make that photo. The graphics are great, so it’s great to see developers think of little things like this to enhance the experience. Although no film camera is capable of shooting “real” panoramas, you can create virtual ones using your phone. Using the panorama mode also makes travel photos great.
Easy ways to find
On Instagram, there is only one way to search: using hashtags. It’s still used on Grainery, but with a special feature of the search function to make life easier for users. There are three characters that help filter search results: the exclamation mark (!), the dollar sign ($), and the percent sign (%).
Placing an exclamation point before your search will filter for genres and movie genres. Film is an important part of how a photo’s colors look after development; it is important to choose the right film before shooting to get the image you want. This feature is very helpful for photographers.
Placing a dollar sign in front of your search will allow you to see photos taken with a specific camera. If you’re looking to buy a camera, it’s still a big investment, and it’s possible to see the results of the camera, with a wide variety of lenses and films, and it’s a very good thing to have.
Finally, the percentage points are analyzed. Lenses are more expensive than camera bodies, so research is important. Free members can use the platform like Instagram, but they can only post a few photos. This is to keep costs down for individual developer, Kyle Johnston.
In a YouTube interview by Chris Chu, at the 11:40 mark, Kyle says that during the beta, free users can upload up to 24 photos. Once the app is officially launched, no a set date at the time of writing, users can upload up to 36 photos to their profile.
With Grainery+, which costs $3 a month or $36 a year, users can upload photos however they like and set the style of the photos they shoot on their profile. This may not be worth it for some, however, the money can help other areas to move faster.
Future Grainery+ features include a marketplace, events, developer database, and monthly Grain Grant access. The Grain Grant is a monthly drawing that gives away a movie book to a subscriber.
