If Khamzat Chimaev’s latest Instagram post is anything to go by, the undefeated Chechen is headed to middleweight (probably heavyweight).
The three-time UFC welterweight champion whose last fight was fought at 180 pounds is making waves on social media after he posted a photo showing his muscular body and hinting that he left 170 lbs. . in the rearview mirror.
Khamzat looks great as he waits to hear from the UFC about his next fight, with the Allstar Training Center product itching to get back to the Octagon ASAP, better than January.
Khamzat last fought at UFC 279 where he submitted former middleweight fighter Kevin Holland with a brabo choke in the first round. The match was contested at 180 pounds after Khamzat lost to Nate Diaz and was reduced to a doubles match. He recently called for a match against Gilbert Burns in Brazil after his tough decision on ‘Durinho’ Fight of the Night at UFC 273.
The UFC will return to Brazil for the first time since the pandemic at the UFC 283 PPV event in Rio de Janeiro on January 21, 2023. The card features a flurry of rivalries between longtime rivals. Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno, will be in the main event.
