Gurugram: to compare Women Self Help Group On MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh said the former are good borrowers and payers and are poised to play a major role in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of a five trillion dollar economy. .
“MSMEs have bank leakages of Rs 13.2 lakh crore, whereas women. Self Help Groups Only Rs 5.5 lakh crore leaked. MSMEs have non-performing assets (NPAs) or bad loans of around 9.3%, while women’s self-help groups have NPAs of only 2.4%,” said Singh, who was in Gurugram to inaugurate the National Saras Mela in Sector 29 on Saturday.
According to the minister, the central government is trying to connect around 10 crore women with self-help groups by 2024. “Currently, about 8.5 crore women are associated with self-help groups, compared to just 2.35 crore in 2014. The NDA government came to power under Modi,” he said.
“We are working to make all women associated with these self-help groups ‘millionaires’ by increasing their personal income by Rs 10 lakh annually,” Singh said. “During Congress rule in Haryana, only 8,000 women were associated with self-help groups, now the number has increased to 5.30 lakh.”
Singh also urged people to buy items produced by women’s self-help groups. “In Gurugram and other cities, people go to malls and buy an item for Rs 10 that costs only Rs 1. The packaging of products made by women self-help groups may not be as good as the products available in malls but in terms of purity and quality, they are much better. ”
SARAS Livelihood Fair 2022, in which more than 200 rural self-help groups and artisans from 27 states of the country are participating, will conclude on October 23.
