Abu Dhabi: A woman in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been fined Dirham 50,000 (Rs 11,07,752) for creating a fake account on Instagram to recruit domestic workers, local media reported.
The Fujairah High Court has ordered the woman to pay a fine after the victim sued the police through a smartphone application.
According to the report a Khaleej Timesthe woman took Dirham 8,500 (Rs 1,88,305) from the victim to hire a domestic worker.
The woman introduced him to the housekeeper, but she did not receive his papers and identification documents so that he could complete the procedures required by law.
When the woman refused, he filed a police report.
At first, the woman denied the allegations against her, saying that the necessary documents needed by the victim were taken by the delivery driver.
It is said that during the Public Prosecutor’s hearing the woman admitted that she acted as an intermediary to recruit people without obtaining permission from the authorities.
