Gurugram: Water supply to various parts of Gurugram will be suspended for 24 hours from 10 am on Monday to shift the 600 mm-wide pipeline. According to a notification by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Master Water Supply pipeline The boosting station in Sector 16 will remain closed for line shifting for a project being executed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).
The closure will affect water supply to X Block and Villas Society DLF 2, U and S Block, Pink Town House area at DLF 3, Cyber City commercial establishment between DLF Square, Gateway Tower and DLF Corporate Park, MG Road, stretch of MG Road from Sikandarpur Power House to Nathupur. As well as Nathupur and Sikandarpur villages and surrounding areas.
“All residents of the said areas are requested and advised to use water judiciously to avoid total dry conditions from 07.11.2022 to 08.11.2022,” the notification said.
The last time authorities cut off water supply to the city was in August, when the 24-hour shutdown was extended by four days after a pipeline leak. Officials assured that such an incident will not happen this time.
“The water supply had to be stopped on many occasions before, and this kind of accident happened only once. All precautions will be taken this time and later to ensure that such incidents do not happen again,” said a senior GMDA official.
A senior NCRTC official told TOI that shifting the line would pave the way for the construction of the Delhi-Gurgaon-SNB (Shahjahanpur-Nimrana-Behrod) Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) corridor. “Several more utilities will be shifted to that area and we will start working on it soon,” the official added.
RRTS is a “rail-based, high-speed and high-frequency” system that brings places in the National Capital Region (NCR) closer to each other.
The first phase focuses on Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut, Delhi-Gurgaon-SNB-Alwar and Delhi-Panipath corridors. The 107-km-long Delhi-Gurgaon-SNB Corridor is the first stretch of the Delhi to Alwar Corridor between Sarai Kale Khan, Delhi and SNB Urban Complex, Rajasthan. The state governments of Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan have approved its detailed project report (DPR), while the central government is yet to approve it.
