If you bought a cheap tablet as part of the early Black Friday deals, this is for you. For a device we like so much, it’s on our best tablets list.
The Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet is currently 50% off at Amazon (opens in new tab), only $44 for black, plum or dusk blue. This is the lowest price we’ve seen for the tablet, but it’s been priced like this several times in the past year.
When it launches in 2020, we found a lot to like in our Amazon Fire HD 8 review. It offers amazing battery life, a bright display and a 2MP selfie camera for video calls, as well as a USB-C port for more convenient charging than the old micro-USB port. And as you’d expect, it’s great for watching videos, reading and enjoying Amazon’s Prime Video, Kindle and Audible libraries.
The same half-price discount is available on the more expensive Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (opens in new tab) model, it also comes with a 6-month subscription to FreeTime Unlimited (Amazon’s education and entertainment streaming service aimed at kids), offers 3GB of RAM instead of the basic 2GB for multitasking, and supports optional 9W fast charging and wireless charging. versatility.
But be aware of the limitations of this tablet. It does not offer native Google apps. If you order a tablet without lock screen ads, it will charge you an extra $15.
It’s worth noting that Amazon released a newer version of the Fire HD 8 this year, which updates this discounted model. Although the 2022 version is still cheap at just $99, it is no longer available.
