Television sales have increased over the past few weeks on Chattogram, due to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Attractive sales offers and discounts are issued by vendors, including visits to Qatar and cash discounts.

Besides, many consumers wait patiently for the world cup season to buy new televisions at a discount, even if they are not sports fans.

“I had a 24-inch TV, but I felt the need to buy a 43-inch one. So, I was waiting for discounts before the world cup,” said Tapash Barua from Chawkbazar area.

Nazrul Islam, Chattogram’s local marketing manager for Transcom Electronics, said sales increased by about 30 percent after the company announced the sale.

Demand for 32- and 50-inch TVs is the highest, Nazrul informed.

Electronics and home appliances company Singer has also launched a campaign, where customers will get a chance to get their TV for free by registering via SMS, said Syed Nizam Uddin, manager of Singer store in Moulvi Pukur Par area.

Minister Group and Sony-Rangs also announced their agreement.
