Two friends have launched a fundraiser in 2020 to help children stay in touch with family and friends.

A Richmond worker and a friend are holding their third annual fundraiser, collecting toys and tablets to help children at BC Children’s Hospital.

Landon Brown, 20, and Jonathan “Bear” Yung, 12, started a fundraiser in 2020 to help children feel less isolated in the hospital and stay connected to family and friends during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Two toy and tablet drives for new, unopened items are being held in Vancouver and Richmond on Saturday, December 3rd.

Brown and Yoon ask that donations be new and unopened. Toy guns and military or projectile toys are not accepted.

The Vancouver fundraiser will be at Porsche Center Vancouver from 9:30am to 12pm and the Richmond fundraiser will be the same day from 12pm to 3pm at The Trove Club.

“BC Children’s Hospital treats some of the sickest children in our province, and their treatment is often long and painful,” Yoon told the Richmond News in an email.

“Landon and I want to help super awesome kids who are bravely fighting serious illnesses and terrible diseases.”

Toys are a way for children to “enjoy,” and smartphones and tablets keep them entertained and connected to family and friends, Jung said.

Members of the public can drop off donations at Mercedes-Benz Richmond between now and December 3rd.
