Despite living in the past, we are still living in the future. And the way it looks in the past, suggests a new approach to our traditions “Follow Friday” column. We at Vulture have turned from our Luddite ways, opting for a more interactive digital angle on what was once a text-only front page. We want you to get to know our favorite up-and-coming comics, authors, and most often funny people face-to-face (or face-to-face). So we hope you enjoy our new and improved Instagram Live feature on “Follow Friday.”
This week, I sat down with Sydney Duncan (ACAB: Angry, Crazy, Black, UCB, whose spirit was tested by his tripod in this interview) for a discussion about algorithms, anger, and political satire. He talked about how he used the time off from the business between holidays to catch up on meals with friends, explained what he did after personalizing some of the most embarrassing celebrities, and confirmed she was the first Black woman to earn degrees in ballet and physics. He himself, with great difficulty, put in three words his advice to those who are not fans of Beyoncé: “Three words I say: Watch her. Even you’re not a fan — like, these words are like vomit to me, I love him to death, I’m so bossy, I’m a local member of the Beyhive. I’m not mean, but I can’t handle gossip, so if I see her on Twitter, I check in. I’m trying to mature in my Beyoncé-ness.
You can find Sydney on it Twitter at @Syd_Duncan and on Instagram at @sydneyduncanonem.
