Recently, actress Parineeti Chopra parted ways with the talent agency Yash Raj Films (YRF), which has managed her for almost her entire career in Bollywood, till now. The news came as a shock in entertainment circles, more so when Ranveer Singh also parted ways with YRF a few days later. YRF Talent – the talent management wing of Yash Raj Films – has many Bollywood stars, including Anushka Sharma, Arjun Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Manushi Chhillar, among others. Parineeti and Ranveer ended their professional relationship with the industry this week, according to reports. However, some on the internet believe that Parineeti’s post on Instagram stories from Friday was a dig at the publishing house or the industry.
Parineeti’s post has just two emojis – a smiley face and a dancing girl – and a background that many say resembles the dark mood of some parts of the YRF logo. Many have shared this on fan clubs across social media. A post on Reddit was captioned, “Parineeti defends YRF on Instagram.” In response to this, one user wrote, “This doesn’t make sense. This is on the nose.” Some were convinced that the timing of the announcement and the show was the actor’s secret message about the breakup. “This made YRF feel very sad. Their skills are so happy to be apart of them,” one fan wrote.
Yash Raj Films is known for signing actors in three film contracts. According to unconfirmed reports, the actors who sign these contracts cannot work outside the studio until they complete their three films with YRF. Many have pointed out that the lack of time for the three films will hurt the actors. “The three-film deal with YRF only restricts their actors. It’s a bad idea. I can see why people really want to take it but it’s too bad if a film is bad and it’s released actor on fire,” one user wrote.
Parineeti worked in the public relations department of Yash Raj Flms for two years before making her acting debut in the 2011 film Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, produced by YRF. He continued to work in other films from the production house, after which he took a break from films for three years. She returned to films during the pandemic receiving critical acclaim for her performances in Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Saina.
He will next be seen in Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, and Danny Denzongpa. It hits theaters this Friday.
