Original TV Green Power Ranger Jason David Frank dies | Tech Reddy

Jason David Frank, who played Green Power Ranger Tommy Oliver in the 1990 children’s series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has died aged 49.

Justine Hunt, Frank’s manager, said in a statement released Sunday that Frank had died.

He did not reveal the cause of his death or when he died, but asked for “privacy for family and friends at this terrible time as we come to terms with the loss of a wonderful person”.

Walter Emmanuel Jones, the original Black Power Ranger who met Frank in Power Rangers, wrote on Instagram, that he could not believe it.

Jones wrote: “My heart is breaking at the loss of another special member of our family.

Thuy Trang, who played the original Yellow Power Ranger, died in a car accident in 2001 at the age of 27.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, about five teenagers out to save the Earth from evil, debuted in 1993 and became a pop culture phenomenon.

At the beginning of the first season, Frank’s Tommy Oliver was first seen as an evil man, brainwashed by the evil Rita Repulsa.

But soon after, he was introduced to the team as the Green Ranger and became one of the most popular characters in the show.

Although his role was not intended to be permanent, Frank was later brought back as the White Ranger and team leader.

Throughout the TV series, Frank’s Tommy Oliver has returned as other Rangers, as well, including the Red Zeo Ranger, the Red Turbo Ranger and the Black Dino Ranger.

He also starred in the films Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie and Turbo: The Power Rangers Movie, and made a cameo in the 2017 reboot Power Rangers.

A martial artist, Frank fought in several mixed martial arts tournaments in 2009 and 2010.

TMZ previously reported that Frank’s second wife, Tammie Frank, filed for divorce from him in August.

Frank is survived by four children, one from his marriage to Tammie Frank and three from his first marriage to Shawna Frank.
