Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor are parents to a baby girl. The actors confirmed the news minutes after Ranbir’s sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni broke up on Sunday, November 6. Alia posted a picture of a lion and a lioness with a cub, cuddling together. The following text reads, “And in the best news of our lives : Our child is here. We are officially bursed with love – MĀTUA manaakitanga ma te pohehe!!!!!” The note was signed with ‘love love love’ by Alia and Ranbir.
Alia was admitted to Reliance Hospital, Girgaon in Mumbai on Sunday morning. Ranbir Kapoor accompanied Alia and they reached the hospital in their car. Their family – led by Alia’s mother Soni Razdan and Ranbir’s mother Neetu Kapoor – arrived at the hospital soon after. Even before the family confirmed the news, many media outlets and paparazzi claimed to be parents to a baby girl.
Finally, Ranbir’s sister Riddhima Kapoor confirmed. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Riddhima said, “I’m in France right now, but can’t wait to see the new baby! We are all very excited! Mom (Neetu Kapoor) looked at me the minute she saw him.”
Alia and Ranbir tied the knot in April after being close for five years. They started dating when they were working together in the film Brahmastra, which was released in September. Earlier in June, Alia surprised everyone when she announced her pregnancy. Alia shared her pregnancy announcement with an Instagram post showing an ultrasound hidden with a heart emoji, and her husband Ranbir’s back. The second photo is of a lioness sucking her mate’s eye as their cub looks up at them. She wrote in the caption, “Our baby… coming soon.”
