We asked Louis Ramirez, Group Editor-in-Chief, Meetings for Tom’s Guide (opens in a new tab) and if they had any suggestions
“If you were going to buy a new TV, now is the time to do it. In my 15 years of bargain hunting, I’ve never seen prices this low.
“For example, you can now get a 48-inch LG OLED TV for $569 (opens in a new tab) or 55-inch OLED for $799 (opens in a new tab) at Best Buy. Last year these models would cost $1,000 or more. If you’re going to buy now – go big. No one ever complained about buying a big TV.
“At the very least you need a 4K resolution and look for a 120Hz panel. The latter is good for games and gaming. If you have a budget, don’t be afraid of smaller brands like Hisense and TCL. Some of them are TVs like Hisense U8H (opens in a new tab) and TCL S546 (opens in a new tab) they offer great value at half the cost of Sony and LGs.”

As soon as you don’t trust FourFourTwo For your TV recommendations, talk to our friends at the office over there TechRadar. Here’s the thing TechRadarEntertainment Managing Editor Matt Bolton told us about how they approach their black TV guides (opens in a new tab): “For a proper TV match of the World Cup, you need something with a lot of movement, which will help explain the fast action – get a 120Hz TV if you have the budget.
“Sony TVs are good for this. OLED TVs usually go well with motion, although for daytime viewing in a bright room, a mini-LED TV (such as Samsung’s Neo QLED models) will be the best for beating signs.”
