  • If you are having trouble getting an SMS code from Instagram, you should try another type of two-factor authentication.
  • Also make sure your phone is not in Do Not Disturb mode and the Instagram service is not offline.
  • Here are seven great ways to troubleshoot Instagram if it’s not sending SMS codes.

In the arms race to stay ahead of online hackers and hackers, Instagram uses a variety of tools to ensure your identity and ensure that authorized users have access to their accounts. One such tool is to send a code via SMS as a form of two-factor authentication.

But if Instagram doesn’t send you an SMS code when you want it, you can close it and close your account. Fear not: Here are seven ways to find Instagram when it doesn’t send you an SMS code.

Make sure you are using the correct phone

If you are waiting for an SMS code and do not receive it, one of the main problems is that you are using a different phone or have changed your phone number since configuring two-factor authentication. It’s easy to lose all the devices and apps that depend on the old number when you switch phones. But all was not lost; Once you’ve configured two-factor authentication, Instagram will also ask you to set up an email address. You may have enabled two-factor authentication with the authenticator app.

Although, you need to follow another method for your login. After you log back into your account, remember to change your two-factor authentication settings and update your phone number. To do that, start the Instagram app and type your account icon below. Tap the three-line menu up and choose Identification. Tap Security the choice is over Two-factor authentication to make the necessary changes.

Make sure you have reliable internet and phone connection

You can’t get codes from Instagram if your mobile connection is weak or you’re out of service area. Normally this isn’t a big concern, but if you’re camping in the woods for weeks, you might be out of luck until you get back out into the world. Find your mobile capability at the top of the home page and move to another location as needed.

Check to make sure you can receive SMS messages

This is a very unfortunate issue, but it’s not a mistake that you have a problem with your mobile carrier, a problem with your plan, or a bug in the Messenger app. However, ask someone else to message you to make sure you are receiving SMS messages.

Make sure your phone is not set to Do Not Disturb

This is easy to miss: You may not see incoming SMS messages because your phone is in Do Not Disturb mode. On an iPhone, swipe down from the top right of the screen and check the Focus button. If it says something other than “Focus,” tap it to enable all notifications.

If you have an Android device, the process is very similar. Swipe down from the top of the screen and search for the Don’t bother shortcut icon. If it is enabled, tap it to turn it off. Now you may find that you have received one or more SMS messages.

Check if Instagram is offline

If you have tried to restore your Instagram account more than once but you still do not receive the SMS message, it is possible that the Instagram service is down. To see if the problem is with Instagram and not your app or your phone, you can check the Instagram status page in Downdetector. You can also search for “under Instagram” in your web browser. If it is offline, you should wait for the service to be restored and try again.

Clear the cache of your Instagram app

The app may not send a request to the Instagram server for your SMS code because your app’s data cache contains some kind of corrupted data. It’s a simple fix. If you’re using Instagram on an iPhone, uninstall the app and reinstall it from the App Store.

If you have an Android device, you can clear the cache without uninstalling the app. Start the Identification app and tap Application. If necessary, type it See all apps and type Instagram. Tap Storage and cachingand tap Clear cache next Easy storage.

Try to retrieve the SMS message from another device

Last but not least, if you’ve tried everything and still don’t receive an SMS code, try logging in and requesting an SMS code using a different device. For example, if you’re using your iPhone or Android device, try logging in with a browser on your computer. Sometimes, a login request from a different device is all you need to get the code. Be careful to stay on the same Wi-Fi network, though, if possible – if you’re sending login requests from multiple networks, that’s a red flag that Instagram may block logins to account.
