India’s tablet market grew by 68% year-on-year, with Lenovo leading the way, followed by Apple | Tech Reddy

India’s tablet market has seen 74% sequential growth in 4G tablets by Q1 2022, confirms new data from CMR’s Tablet Market Q1 2022 report. The shipments of tablets with 8-inch display accounted for 26% of the total shipments in the Indian market. On the other hand, tablets with 10-inch and larger displays accounted for 61% of shipments.

Lenovo (36%), Apple (22%) and Samsung (22%) took the top three spots on the tablet leaderboard in Q1 2022, followed by Realme and Lava in Q1 2022.

Lenovo maintained the top position in the region, mainly due to its commercial business and retail market. The Lenovo Tab M8 (HD) (Wi-Fi+4G) 2GB 32GB series captured 32% market share primarily in the Value for Money (INR 7,000-INR 25,000) segment. Lenovo shipments grew 48% in Q1 2022.

Apple retained the second position in the first quarter of 2022 with a market share of 22%. In the tablet market, Apple iPad 9 (Wi-Fi) is in second place with a 45 percent share, and iPad Pro 2021 (Wi-Fi) with 11 percent share. Apple shipments grew 31% year over year in Q1 2022.

Samsung is placed third in the market leaderboard with 22% market share. Samsung has launched 5G and 4G tablets in Q1 2022, including the Galaxy Tab A8 WiFi + LTE, Galaxy Tab S8 WiFi + 5G, Galaxy Tab S8 Plus WiFi + 5G, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra WiFi + 5G. Samsung shipments grew 81% in Q1 2022.
