Gujarat: IAS officer’s post on “poll duty” on Instagram lands him in trouble, EC removes him from his job saying it ‘depresses the people’ | Instagram
An IAS officer, identified as Abhishek Singh, was removed from Gujarat’s election office for publicizing it on social media, NDTV reported that the decision came as the Election Commission said it was “complaint.
Singh, a cadre officer from Uttar Pradesh, was appointed as Chief Inspector in Ahmedabad, for the state election. However, his revelation on social media suggests that he suffered when he was fired after the appointment.
In an Instagram post, Singh celebrated his car getting an Election Commission award for the project. He captioned the post to inform him, “Joined Ahmedabad as Gujarat Elections Inspector.”

According to NDTV, the officer was ordered to leave the constituency and report to his superiors. All the government buildings allotted to him in Gujarat were also taken away, including the car in his posts.
Gujarat will hold elections for a new state on December 1 and 5. On December 8, the results will be announced.
