Oven door glass is built to withstand high temperatures and allows people to easily see how their food is doing – unfortunately, over time, this window can collect dirt and grease stains, rendering it all but useless. While it’s tempting to work around a small stain, it bakes onto the glass after each use, making it difficult to clean in the long run. Fans of Mrs Hinchen’s cleaning sensation have taken to social media to share their best tips for cleaning oven door glass.

On the dedicated Mesh Hinch cleaning page on Facebook, a woman asked for advice on how to remove stains from her oven glass. Sandra Summers: “How do I remove stains from my oven door?”

The post was flooded with more than 100 comments from cleaning fanatics. Although a number of suggestions were made, the most common was to use a dishwasher tablet.

“I use a dishwashing tablet, wet it first and then use it on the glass,” said Carol Furniss.

Susan Cambridge commented: “A wet dishwasher tablet and it only takes five minutes. I was surprised at how well it worked.”

Additionally, hard powder tablets have an abrasive surface that helps remove stubborn stains, but is gentle enough to scratch the oven glass.

Dish washing tablets are also cheap as a pack of 30 can be bought from Asda for £3. It works as a tablet. Brits can also buy powdered tablets from Wilko for £3 in packs of 40.

Other Mrs. Hinch fans have suggested making a paste of baking soda and white vinegar to remove stains from oven doors.

“Baking soda and white vinegar, let sit for an hour, then scrub,” says Elaine Hallam.

Else Bloomfield commented, “Make a paste of vinegar and baking soda, then scrub with a sponge.”

Lottie Laila suggests, “Try baking soda mixed with white vinegar. Make a paste, put it on, then leave it for an hour and wash it off.”

Doris Babb added: “Vinegar and baking soda. Sit for about an hour.”

Due to the less stubborn nature of oven glass stains, Roseanne Jones claims that this paste only needs to be left on for 10 minutes to be effective.
