Littelfuse, Inc has released the new SMTOAK2 TVS Diode Series. Most of today’s high power, high ratio TVS diodes are available only in packages with axial leads. The compact, 2kA 8/20μs rated, surface-mount package series enables electrical designers to achieve high voltage transients, overcurrent protection, and lightning protection systems while using a small PCB area.

This range is ideal for high power density applications that require robust protection in a small area, including ICT, medical, DC power supply; high-power DC bus protection; DC power supply used in exposed and rugged environment; PoE ports; small cell, micro cell, RRU, BBU; and high power density SiC and GAN-based DC-DC/power converters.

“Global trends and regulatory requirements for efficient power supply, high current and high speed MOSFET/IGBT designs are becoming more and more demanding,” said Ben Huang, senior product marketing manager at Littelfuse. “This fast-switching design requires protection from inductive kickback.
