Gurugram:

A 42-year-old property businessman was shot dead by unidentified assailants in his sleep in the early hours of Sunday, police said in Gurugram.

The man’s family members have so far refused to hand over the body to the police and are yet to file a complaint, they said.

According to police, Dharmesh Yadav of Dundahera village was sleeping in his under-construction house in Sector 22 when two armed men killed him around 2 am.

The accused fled after the murder, and a worker sleeping in the same building raised an alarm and informed the family, said DCP Deepak Sarahan.

He said that after receiving the information, a police team reached the spot and tried to take the body into custody, but the family members initially denied the demand to arrest the accused.

“The reason behind the killing is yet to be ascertained as the family has not filed any complaint or given us the body. We are waiting while the crime unit starts their investigation,” the official said.
