Gurugram: At one time NCR Cities struggle with their annual winter air pollution, GMDA It launched its ‘United for Air’ campaign on Monday and announced it will install more screens to monitor air quality in parts of the city.
The campaign aims to improve monitoring of pollution levels in Gurugram and raise awareness about air pollution. Officials said the number of screens to be installed is yet to be determined.
At present, GMDA has air monitoring stations at 11 spots in the city. It is equipped with eight LED screens to display real-time Air Quality Index (AQI).
“The data of all these monitoring stations is also available on our GMDA website. However, as part of this initiative, we will now install more screens in the city that will display the local AQI levels,” said Subhash Chandra YadavAdditional CEO, Department of Urban Environment, GMDA.
With a broader focus on the campaign, the partnership has been launched Career India And NGO United Way Delhi, Yadav said: “The level of pollution has become a growing concern over the years, and various initiatives and activities are being undertaken to sensitize citizens, create awareness among them and encourage them to practice environment-friendly lifestyle. on a personal level.”
City residents, however, said mitigation measures were the need of the hour.
“City agencies need to understand that we have passed the stage where monitoring will help in the immediate future Awareness is certainly important, and displaying data on air quality helps with this goal, but there needs to be more focus and investment in actually coming up with and implementing solutions,” said Santosh Bahlwho lives in Sohna Road.
