The Adani Vidya Mandir (AVM), run by the Adani Foundation in Surguja, has taken a significant step to provide modern learning experience to tribal students by providing them with customized tablets for their classrooms.

All 410 students in grades 4-10 will each have their own tablet, allowing them to learn independently on a personalized tablet even after school without an internet connection.

AVM is a CBSE-affiliated co-educational, English medium school and provides education to children in and around Surguja, many of whom are from underprivileged backgrounds. Many of them are first-generation students who lack access to the Internet, modern technology, and even basic academic post-secondary assistance. The school aims to help students realize their full potential by providing a welcoming environment and dedicated instructors.

Adani Foundation Chairperson Dr. Priti Adani said, “Adani Vidya Mandir in Surguja serves a very marginalized population. With access to digital tools, students are equipped with an enhanced educational experience and learning becomes easier. Ultimately, we owe these children’s success to their families.” and we believe that it will give strength to the community.”

This step is beneficial considering that the school is in a remote location deprived of resources such as coaching, tuition, online classes, diverse assessment methods and expert guidance. It also increases the professional skills of teachers.

“With this tablet, we can better understand our curriculum. Often when homeschooling, some questions are left unanswered and have to wait until the next day at school. Now we will not face such a problem,” says Anishma Porte, a student of class X.

Many famous citizens and parents of the region participated in the tablet distribution program. Chief Guest MLA Mr. Siddharth Singh Deo termed it as a commendable effort and encouraged the children to study well.

Manoj Kumar Shahi, Cluster Head, PEKB Mines; Ram Dwivedi, Cluster HR Head; Satyendra Bagel, AVP, Business Development; Jayant Mohanty, Regional CSR Head, Adani Foundation; and Rajesh Ranjan, Head CSR, Adani Foundation, Surguja were also present on the occasion. Mr. Brijlal Das, whose son is studying in class IX, said, “We are grateful to Adani Vidya Mandir for providing our children with everything related to higher education in these remote areas.”

The school has also converted seven classrooms into digital learning spaces to improve the teaching and learning experience. Digitization in school provides better content and improves the qualifications of teachers, which is useful for improving students’ knowledge and learning progress. Students benefit from the assistance provided by BYJU’s e-learning platform in developing and achieving higher aspirations and career paths.

Surguja is one of the oldest districts of Chhattisgarh, with tribals making up the majority of its population. About half of the land in the district is covered by forests. Difficult geography, poor infrastructure, high levels of underdevelopment and poverty create many challenges. The entry of the Adani group into the state helped restore some sense of normalcy to the lives of the tribal people.

The group’s CSR arm, Adani Foundation, along with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL), implements many programs in education, health, livelihood support and infrastructure development.
