Former Notre Dame quarterback Phil Jurkovec captured the Fighting Irish in a strange Instagram post on Saturday.
Jurkovec began his college career at Notre Dame. After falling behind Ian Book on the depth chart for his 2019 redshirt freshman year, Jurkovec transferred to Boston College.
Before Saturday’s game between BC and ND, Jurkovec reflected on Instagram about his experience with the Irish. In his post, he took some photos at school. Someone came in and said the school was not living up to its standards.
“Notre Dame has some very important programs, which are very difficult to achieve. I don’t think the university is doing what it has to do in all aspects of the university but I’m advocating for it to be done because I think it would be better,” Jurkovec wrote.
He then closed his post by saying that Notre Dame is doing tradition by singing the Dropkick Murphys song, and that the Fighting Irish “don’t have a name.”

“I loved Notre Dame football even though most of my family had no connection or love for the school. I turned down some great opportunities to fulfill my childhood dream of playing on the team, and Thank you to everyone who helped make that happen. I was fortunate to meet some amazing people there- players, coaches, professors, priests, etc. Notre Dame is a great force for good. world will maintain this importance because of its good people. There have been some negative comments in the media about my vision for the place and I want to clarify: Notre Dame has some very important projects that are very difficult to achieve. I don’t think the university is doing what it says it should in all aspects of the campus but I’m pushing for it because I think it will be better. I wish the success of many who I meet. People who are close to me know how bad it is I want to play this game but I’m currently recovering from a concussion, a broken rib, and a torn MCL.
“When it comes to” Boston College, even in a very difficult year, I could never be prouder to represent the school. The tragedy we faced made and strengthened me. We are succeeding and will be coming to The Heights soon (on eagle wings). Although this may be a temporary famine, we must know that there is no fear. Let us remember that Boston College was founded for Irish immigrants. Notre Dame du Lac by the French (something you study in First Year Moreau). The Dropkick Murphys started in Boston and their song “For Boston” was our fight song. They sing “I’m up in Boston” but not “I’m up in South Bend.” So, if you’re in that studio, and you’re excited when that song arrives before it starts, you need to make sure you’re following BC or supporting cultural distribution.

Jurkovec was unable to play in Saturday’s game due to his injuries. His Eagles were crushed 44-0 in the game.
Jurkovec’s message is that he is very young, like a former lover. His complaint about the Dropkick Murphys song was a sad attempt to throw shade at the school. All he did was take something negative and turn it into something no less important.
In 8 games so far this season, Jurkovec has passed for 1,711 yards, 11 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. BC is 3-8 and Notre Dame is 8-3.
