DP World has opened a new technology center in Gurgaon, India, its third this year, confirming the company’s commitment to developing innovative solutions for global trade.

The new office, about 30 kilometers southwest of India’s capital New Delhi, will house more than 240 people. It will house development teams for DP World’s latest state-of-the-art trade and logistics solutions to improve how trade flows through every link in the global supply chain, creating stability, security and profitability for cargo owners.

The opening follows the successful launch of new technology centers in Hyderabad and Bangalore earlier this year, capitalizing on the growth opportunities and significant technology-focused talent pool available in India.

The country’s digital economy is set to reach $1 trillion by 2025, and its pool of tech professionals is growing rapidly. DP World will leverage this resource, nurturing India’s brightest minds, to co-create solutions by owning the end-to-end software development process. Engineers will thrive while working on exciting technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence and machine learning to automate trade flows.

DP World’s presence in the Indian technology market has grown exponentially to match its ambitions in the digital commerce space. At the beginning of 2021, the company had only 50 employees in the country. With three of its offices opening in 2022, the number has already grown to more than 450 As this exponential growth continues, the number of employees is expected to reach 700 by the middle of next year.

Pradeep Desai, Chief Technology Officer, DP World, said: “At DP World, we focus on developing cutting-edge applications and solutions to solve real-world trade problems. Across the industries we operate in, commerce is moving away from analog to embrace new digital solutions. Our teams will be able to develop and test new solutions – from concept to implementation – to help automate trade flows. We are investing heavily in end-to-end logistics, trade finance, e-commerce and market access for the benefit of cargo owners. Additionally, by using IoT to drive operations, efficiency can be achieved in the supply chain by using digital twins to monitor goods movement and operations through alternative modes of transport using optimization techniques. These are just a few examples of how technology is helping to achieve DP World’s vision.”

DP World is leading the way in accelerating this trend, helping drive efficiency and transparency. DP World’s global logistics solutions are opening up markets for traders, while financial solutions such as DP World’s Trade Finance – an online platform – connect lenders with borrowers around the world to help finance their trade ambitions.
