The third edition of the presidential town hall series organized by Arise TV in collaboration with the Center for Democracy and Development (CDD) is scheduled to be held on December 4.
The first and second editions, with presidential candidates from six of the eight political parties – the Peoples Democratic Party was represented by the vice president while the All Progressives Congress. he wasn’t there – focused on security and economy.
The third edition will focus on issues related to education, health care, poverty, and human resources.
The presidential candidates expected on December 4 are Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, Peter Obi of the Labor Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, and Bola Tinubu of the APC.
Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE), and nine news organizations – TheCable, Premium Times, Vanguard, Punch, Guardian, Daily Trust, Leader , new Telegraph, Sun – collaboration with Arise TV and CDD on the program.
The announcement of the third edition of the town hall meeting comes days after the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), in a statement, said. 133 million Nigerians are poor.
Extreme poverty involves the exclusion of poor people – such as poor health, lack of education, inadequate living standards, and living in environmentally hazardous areas, among others, according to Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative.
According to the NBS report, 63 percent of Nigerians are poor due to lack of access to health, education, and living standards, as well as unemployment and shock.
