Banksy appears to have confirmed he is in Ukraine after revealing his latest artwork on Instagram.
There is growing speculation that the anonymous graffiti artist is in the war-torn country after a series of pictures appeared in the town of Borodianka, near Kyiv.
One picture shows a man who looks like the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, throwing to the ground in a judo match with a child.
Another showed two children using a metal tank trap as a saw.
However, the image that Banksy used to portray his presence on the ground was of an actress balancing on the rubble of a ruined building.
The Bristol artist, whose work sells for millions of pounds, posted three photos of the mural on Instagram on Friday, with the simple caption: “Borodyanka, Ukraine”.
Borodianka, a town northwest of Kyiv, was hit by Russian bombs early in the offensive.
Russian troops, moving from Belarusian territory 200 miles to the north, occupied the city in February. Along with Bucha, Irpin and Hostomel, Borodianka was one of the most affected cities in Russia. Released in April.
Ukrainian investigators found many mass graves where the bodies of civilians – tortured and killed – were buried. Moscow dropped heavy artillery and heavy bombs on large areas of Borodianka, destroying many buildings, some of which were destroyed and split in two.
Since then, the city has been the focus of reconstruction efforts, with many tower blocks demolished due to the ravages of war.
