Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka are upset over Ben Chilwell’s injury news. The pair took to Instagram to pay their respects to the left-back, after Chilwell revealed that his injury will rule him out of England’s World Cup squad.

The Chelsea left-back was injured in the Blues’ Champions League clash with Dinamo Zagreb and ended up leaving Stamford Bridge on crutches. Chilwell took over social media to clarify the situation and confirm that he will be out of contention for the World Cup:

“After my ACL injury I worked hard to make sure I was ready for the World Cup. It’s always been a dream of mine. But, this is not possible after my scan results. I will do everything i can. come back and play for chelsea ASAP. thanks for the messages of support [blue heart emoji]”

The Blues also released a statement explaining that Chilwell suffered a serious hamstring injury ahead of the World Cup. They added that he is on the mend with the club’s medical department.

Chilwell’s injury prompted support from many quarters, including Arsenal star Bukayo Saka. The winger posted prayer emojis on Chilwell’s Instagram post, while team-mate Aubameyang said “Get well soon bro”.
