As much as Instagram can be a source of inspiration, there is also a place (and it can’t be) that it can also be an arbiter of equality. We started to see this trend with fashion trends throughout the mid-to-late 2010s (off-the-shoulder tops, fur-lined Gucci dresses, ultra-miniature sunglasses, straw dresses) . Now, because of the amount of time spent in the pre-epidemic period, we are seeing the same thing with home-decor trends (Togo sofas, Cesca dining chairs, mushroom lamps , etc.).
It’s an interesting trend to watch in any situation but with home decor, it has more of a sense of stability than most people wear. As a result of the places that appear to be scary at times, as if we are living in the Sims-Video game style with a limited number of preset options for setting up thousands of locations. I think that’s what makes my appreciation for home decor a little less thought-out and a little more random. There is nothing I love more than a home that sports a collection of valuables that have been preserved and loved for a long time – whether by the current owner or someone else.
There are many ways to cultivate that kind of space – other aspects, such as introducing hand-made decorations from friends or relatives, and others that are more thoughtful, such as take different vintages or off-kilter items. from around the internet.
To get you started, below is a list of recommended ways of some of the biggest home-decor Instagram trends I’ve watched over the past couple of years. (By the way, don’t worry if you have one of the items I’m talking about as a replacement. There’s a reason it’s progressing in the first place, and that’s probably because it looks great. The stylish thing has name and many other personal things, he can do it in a way that is special to you). Will it be okay? Good! The cancellation is over. Next, friends.
Author Sydney Gore asks the right questions when she writes an article for The Strategist last summer titled “Why Are Tiled-Cube Tables Suddenly Everywhere?” Of course, the answer lies in part with Instagram’s penchant for playing with pastel colors – it’s as infectious as a secret smile. Instead, I look for ripple or bubble side tables. It’s just as fun, big project itchy but the carving looks easier thanks to their rounded sides.
I think I could write another 1,000 words about the fact that every bottle these days seems to have two areolas. For the record, I’m a fan, but I think it’s nice to have a non-PG-rated option for when your dad pays you — like, a fish-shaped bottle.
Tempered-glass cabinets are all the rage these days, especially the folding-cone variety. For an equally classy and fun alternative, I’m a big fan of wallets. Many wine sets online come with a matching bottle (very expensive!). They are very busy, like something you borrowed from your grandmother and never returned.
As fashion trends begin to peak, it’s special for those rare occasions when you find one that really speaks to your personal style and the one you choose to wear. still though its place in the Zeitgeist began to sink. Floor mats (and home decor in general) fall into that wet bucket. I’m not sick yet, I don’t know if I will be. But if it’s your thing, consider an early model Beni Ourain rug.
For context, most of the checked rugs you’ve probably seen on Instagram are Berber rugs from Morocco (or inspired by them). The three most popular types of berber rugs are the Beni Ourain, which is made of high-quality sheep wool, the Boucharouette, which is made from recycled fabrics, and the Azilal, which is made of wool and yarn Beni Ourain rugs are considered the best because their designs are unique and made from the highest quality wool. There are thousands of beautiful abstract patterned Beni Ourain rugs on Etsy that I highly recommend browsing.

Michel Ducaroy created the famous Togo sofa in 1973 and is still making it today – it’s an amazing piece of work, and one that I’m sure I’ll be asking for (a grown-up piano keyboard!) . But thanks to Instagram, it’s pretty obvious everywhere that I start to feel like I’m eating my sour candy: “This is sweet, but I have to taste it now, please!”
If you’re in the same boat and shopping for a sofa, sectional sofas are a better choice. Like the Togo sofas, there are elements of the “luxurious futon” but with less structure, there are so many different shapes, configurations and colors that you can put together something very special.
I am very happy with mushroom-light. Mushrooms are beautiful, and mushrooms can light up your room with a warm glow. But if you love mushrooms and want something different, check out Sicilian pigna rums on Etsy and eBay. It looks like pine (pig pinecone in Italian) and, like mushroom candles, come in a variety of ceramic colors, but their vibe is more Italian home than teenage bedroom.
Marcel Breuer’s famous armchairs with chrome armrests and cane backs are another popular style – even one that is on display at the Museum of Fine Arts in New York. For something different that has the same “neutral but still stylish” effect, consider a set of French Mullca reclining chairs. These were originally designed in the 1940s as school chairs in France with beautiful tubular frames and wooden seats. Best of all, it’s taxicab, perfect for getting out of the way when you’re partying in a small house.
