Granted, Black Friday isn’t even a week away, but as we’ve come to expect, Amazon is launching its best deals early. Right now, we’re seeing steep price cuts on Fire tablets, with discounts ranging from 33 percent to 50 percent off. That knocks the new-for-2022 Fire HD 8 Plus tablet down from its $120 list price to just $65, and Amazon’s biggest tablet, the Fire HD 10, down to $75 instead of its usual $150.
This year, Amazon updated all of its 8-inch tablets, giving them a slimmer profile and faster processors. The Black Friday sale marks the first time Fire 8 tablets have gone on sale since they were released in September.

On average, you’ll see discounts of 20 percent on new devices, but Amazon is going with up to 47 percent off the new Fire 8s. The biggest discount goes to children’s tablets, at $80 each. The Fire HD 8 Kids tablet is designed for children between the ages of three and seven and features a rugged design and web browsing capabilities that include a selection of safe sites. The Fire HD 8 Kids Pro also costs $80, but it’s for kids ages six to twelve. It has a slim protective case and an open but filtered web browser. Both come with a year of Amazon Kids+, a service that gives you access to age-appropriate e-books, games and audiobooks.
A handful of other Amazon tablets are seeing discounts of up to 50 percent, with half-price deals on the 2021 Fire HD 10 tablet. The 10 Series is the only Full HD tablet offered by Amazon, featuring 1080p resolution screens, and the only model to make an Amazon keyboard. If you’re looking for a tablet to help you with your productivity, pick up the Fire 10 or even the Fire 10 Plus, which is 42 percent off and offers wireless charging and an extra gigabyte of RAM.

There’s also a half-price deal on the 2022 Fire 7 Kids tablet. Like the Fire 8 Kids tablet, the Fire 7 Kids tablet is designed for toddlers ages three to seven, but with a one-inch smaller screen that may be easier for smaller hands.
Amazon’s tablets are among the cheapest slates out there, and these limitations may be enough to put them in sock-knot territory. For less than $100, you can pick up an everyday tablet to give as a gift or keep for couch surfing.
