Amazon India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indian manufacturer TVS Motor. TVS will deliver electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers for Amazon’s last miles in India.

In 2020, Amazon India announced its goal of including 10,000 EVs by 2025 and committed to importing 100,000 EVs worldwide by the year 2030. Amazon India announced in 2020 its goal to include 10,000 EVs by 2025.

TVS Motor is India’s third largest motorcycle manufacturer. According to the company’s website, they have recently launched electric cars only in their two-wheeler offerings. The company currently offers three electric Qube ST models, but noted on its website that it has closed orders due to high demand.

In 2018, TVS presented a hybrid version of the iQube scooter and revealed that it has invested 60 million dollars (765,000 euros) in Ultraviolette Automotive, based in the megacity of Bengaluru, often called Silicon Indian Valley.

Manu Saxena, Senior Vice President, Future Mobility, TVS Motor Company, said: “With the huge success of the TVS Qube Electric, we are now committed to expanding our electric offering across multiple segments and commercial mobility stands in the right place for flexibility.”

The two partners hope to increase the share of EVs in Amazon’s last-mile delivery, saying that it will give all these groups the opportunity to participate in TVS Motors’ production and service services in the commercial mobility sector. The two companies say the agreement will benefit local transportation players, service providers, vehicle operators, and EV stakeholders.

“TVS Motor is now ready with an electric two-wheeler with three B2B product options and an integrated service ecosystem with one ownership,” Saxena said.

Earlier this year, when Tata Motors launched its electric truck, the new Ace EV, the company revealed that it had signed contracts with Amazon for its electric truck for use in India.

Just twelve months earlier, in February 2021 Amazon India partnered with Mahindra Electric and announced that they will be shipping close to a hundred Mahindra Treo Zor EVs to seven major cities across the country.
