Indian writer Chetan Bhagat has shared a story about the rift between him and reality TV star Uorfi Javed. He said that his controversial statement was taken out of context and things were added to the headline, according to news agency ANI.
In a tweet, Chetan Bhagat wrote, “Haven’t talked/chatted with/met/known anyone that I have spread. It’s fake. It’s a lie. It’s non-issue. You didn’t blame anyone. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with telling people to stop wasting time on Instagram and focus on getting fit and working out.”
The controversy started when Chetan Bhagat was speaking at a literary event organized by a media house where he mentioned the name of Uorfi Javed and said that today’s youth spend a lot of time on Instagram.
“The phone is a real distraction for the youth, especially boys, who spend hours watching Instagram Reels. Everyone knows who Uorfi Javed is. What do you do with his photos? It’s going from the audition you go to the interview and tell the interviewer you know all his clothes?” said the Indian writer at a conference.
“On the one hand, there are youths who are protecting our people in Kargil, on the other hand, there are youths who are seeing pictures of Uorfi Javed hiding in their blankets,” he added, saying and ANI.
Soon after these comments, Uorfi Javed hit out at the author and said that he was only dragged into the discussion.
He took to Instagram and wrote, “Men like him continue to criticize women for accepting their own weaknesses. Stop promoting the conquest culture you sick people out there. The accusation of women’s clothing for men’s behavior is 80s Mr. Chetan Bhagat.”
Apart from this, he also shared the photos of Chetan Bhagat’s Whatsapp messages from the MeToo movement in 2018.
