Whether you’re a serious gamer or only get to fire up your console a few times a month, you deserve a great gaming experience. And some TVs are better for playing video games than others. If gaming is important when shopping for a TV, well, I’ve got a list of models you want to check out.
If you’re team Xbox, team Playstation, team PC, or team all of the above, these are my best TV picks for gaming in 2022. I’ll drive you and on the way tell me which TV. Do what is best for you to get a home TV that will suit your needs. I have options from the budget to the sky the limit here, so there’s a little something for everyone.

Choosing your upload
Before I get to my first choice, I want to explain my method and how I measure it to arrive at the choice I will use.
The first thing I look for is low input lag. Because if there’s a huge delay between the action of your thumbs and the action on the screen, well, that’s a distraction nobody wants. Moreover, it can be very disadvantageous in a competitive game, where a few milliseconds can be the difference between winning or losing.
Next, I’m looking for solid picture quality in TV game mode, which is why you’ll want to use it for the lowest input lag. Photo quality doesn’t have to be videophile-quality, but it can’t be rubbish, either. The graphics of today’s game are beautiful, and you deserve all that beauty, so we aim to find the best balance between low input and amazing image.
Then we need to see a great solution for movement. We don’t know there were having native 120Hz panels for good motion resolution. A 60Hz TV may look good, but, not all of them are, so we want to make sure that we see as little blurring and as much as possible for more clarity during fast-paced playback.
But since I mentioned 120Hz, that is certainly good to have, along with other important gaming features such as variable refresh rate (VRR), automatic game mode, Dolby Vision game, and maybe up to a refresh rate of 144Hz in some cases. Now, for some of you, these are important things, not nice things, so I will definitely show you these things.
I’ll give bonus points to more impressive HDR and/or Dolby Vision functionality, and additional features like a gaming dashboard or gaming hub.
There are plenty of other great TVs out there with streaming, but that’s kind of the problem. It’s hard to narrow it down when shopping – that’s why I highlight my favorites here.
So with that, let’s run down the list, starting with the budget-friendly options and working our way up to the best.
The miniboss
My top choice for a budget gaming TV is the TCL 5-Series. This TV has local dimming for better black levels and proper contrast, HDR10 and Dolby Vision support, and low input lag, between 12 milliseconds and 15 milliseconds. It’s a 60Hz panel, but it offers a variable refresh rate between 48Hz and 60Hz, which is rarely seen at this price. It has good motion resolution and a Black Frame Adjustment that can reduce blur, if you’re into that sort of thing. Best of all, though, the photo quality is outstanding for this price. This is truly one of the best deals out there, although I have to give a shout out to the Hisense U6H for a great deal of competition around the same price.
Next on the list at the budget level is really a tie. These are two excellent TVs in general, both suitable for gaming and both well-rated for their picture quality: Hisense U8H and TCL 6-Series.
Both offer impressive picture quality with solid motion resolution, both use mini-LED lighting and a number of dark areas for high contrast and HDR performance, both offer very low lag and generic support for VRR and FreeSync, and both have 120Hz panels, although PC gamers may prefer TCL because it can go up to 144Hz at VRR. The Hisense U8H is brighter than the TCL 6-Series, but the TCL tends to increase the touch quality better than the Hisense. In the end, the decision can come down to the interface of your favorite Smart TV, as the TCL 6-Series Roku TV, while the Hisense U8H uses the Google TV platform. Either way, these are definitely two of the best bang-for-your-buck options on this list.

Next is a TV that made the list for no reason other than being a Sony. For PlayStation 5-friendly features you won’t find on any non-Sony TV, check out the Sony X90K. It features auto-HDR tone mapping, which ensures you get the best HDR picture without having to adjust anything on the PS5. It also has automatic genre detection, which knows the difference between whatever game you’re playing versus the movie you’re streaming and adjusts the picture mode automatically. It supports 4K 120Hz playback with VRR and input lag as low as 8.5ms. With a bright mini-LED light and the most accurate color in game mode at this price point or thereabouts, the Sony X90K is the best choice for general gaming, but it’s even better for PlayStation 5 enthusiasts.
Now we come to the Samsung QN90B TV. Now, I would have put the less expensive QN85B here, but I think the QN90B makes the most sense because, for more money, you get more image quality. And the fun things to play expand from there. This mode; It features a bright mini-LED light, one of the best backlight controls on the market for small flowers and amazing black levels, some of the smallest glare reduction, with full bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports 4K 120Hz, VRR, auto game mode, and auto console detection – it will name your input automatically. But what makes this TV so different from others is that you don’t need a game console or PC at all, because Samsung supports a wide range of cloud gaming apps, including Xbox Game Pass. Really, the only thing this TV can’t do is Dolby Vision.
The last boss
Well, we’ve worked our way to the best here, and my final choice is, without a doubt, the best TV you can buy … the best overall picture quality in this list: I’m talking about the Samsung S95B QD-OLED TV.
Now, QD-OLED is a new type of OLED display that can produce more colors and brighter colors than any other TV in this range. In fact, only the Sony A95K QD-OLED can match it. But the Samsung S95B has all the amazing gaming features I mentioned earlier about the QN90B. Low input lag, high motion resolution, cloud playback options, 4 HDMI 2.1 ports, 4K 120Hz, VRR, playback hub – what Dolby Vision can’t do. But with picture quality like this, I’m not sure you’d care.
God’s level
And finally, we’ve come to the best gaming TVs you can buy in 2022. Drumroll, please. It’s the LG C2 OLED.
This TV has it all. It is the only TV in this range with everything to play under the sun – 4 HDMI 2.1 ports, 4K 120Hz and G-sync VRR in Dolby Vision – all at the same time, if you can find content. Plus, it has a fun gaming dashboard for nerdy performance stats, along with amazing image quality, instant response time, and ultra-low input lag. The LG C2 is the complete package, and there is nothing else like it – except for the LG C1 OLED, and if you can find one of those, grab it and save money.
Either way, you just don’t get what I think it is i It’s the best TV show out there, but one of the best TVs you can buy right now, period. That makes it a great choice for everything you want to watch. YOU WILL LOVE IT.
