Melissa Gilbert is sharing some tips with her Instagram followers.
The Little House on Friday Alum, 59, took to social media on Tuesday to post a photo of a container of lemon-lime laxative powder used for colonoscopy prep. When added to water, the solution is used to help clean out his system before the procedure, which uses a small video camera inserted into the tube to check for changes in the large intestine. It can be used to diagnose various diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease or cancer.
Gilbert explained his plan in his caption, writing, “Raise your hand if you know what this is. I hope everyone knows. If you don’t, today…yes on Sunday Midterm elections…(I voted early)… .I am preparing for my college tomorrow morning. Now I have to say, I have done college before and the failure made me very sad. i blow away the IBS condition for days and days afterward [doctor] I do it the other way.”
The former president of the Screen Actors Guild said he had “changed his diet” for the past four days, eating lots of rice, pasta, smoothies, water and fish for protein.
“Today I’m going to do a lot of preparation, instead of drinking yucky stuff in 2-3 hours and going, my. [doctor] I have recommended that I start in the morning and drink a couple of glasses and wait an hour or two, then drink two more, and so on until everything is clear,” he said. him. “He told me that I would agree that it would be better to prepare. So, if this is something that worries you, ask yourself [doctor] before you start your preparation.”
Gilbert also encouraged his students to take another look.
“I want you all to get your colon when it comes to you. Don’t delay. Get it done,” he wrote. “Now I have to jump because my lover and my business partner … said in Zoom yesterday, I will be busy today because I have a lot of work.”
Gilbert concluded her post with hashtags related to colon cancer awareness – something that her followers appreciate her spreading the word about.
“Thank you Melissa,” one fan wrote in her comment section. “Colon exams are so important! It’s not fun to do but it’s easy to do. Colon cancer can be prevented if you keep getting colonoscopies!”
Another commenter added, “It’s important. I lost my best friend from this. Tell your doctor it’s not important to get the job done!”
Gilbert has talked about colon cancer awareness before. In September, she posted a photo of a tweet on Instagram saying, “My mom is having a checkup on Thursday. My dad said she needs to put a piece of paper in her butt crack. saying, ‘I tried to reach you. about the extended warranty on your car.’ I told him if there were 10K positives, he should do it. He agreed. Internet: Do your job.”
When the tweet reached 10,000 likes, the woman actually did this.
In the caption of the post, Gilbert wrote, “Oh my god! This is awesome! I’m going to college in November and I’m so tempted to do this. !!!”
