Social media services Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram have been restored after failing to disable Meta platforms for thousands of users around the world – including in Pakistan.
According to Downdetector, the platforms were broken on Wednesday evening after thousands of users around the world were unable to use the applications.
Reports, released by Downdetector, said that Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram were down after 5pm, when #WhatsAppDown started trending on Twitter in Pakistan.
Soon after the incident, #WhatsAppDown started trending on Twitter, with hundreds of memes flooding the internet. However, after some time, some users reported that they can send and receive messages on WhatsApp.
Two days after Instagram went down for users around the world, it was restored hours later.
Instagram said it was investigating an issue that prevented thousands of its users from accessing the photo-sharing site, many of whom complained of having their accounts suspended.

Last week, WhatsApp went down for two hours amid a global outage. WaBetaInfo, an online platform that tracks updates to WhatsApp, said the outage was due to a server issue.
