Xiaomi unveils a new Redmi Pad model with more RAM | Tech Reddy

Xiaomi has introduced a new version of the Redmi Pad, repeating the same trick it did in September with the Pad 5 Pro 12.4. As we discussed at the time, Xiaomi released the new memory option about a month after announcing the Pad 5 Pro 12.4 in China. While this new option bridges the gap between the tablet’s entry and mid-range SKUs, the latest version of the Redmi Pad is the most expensive SKU in the range.

Initially, Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi Pad with 128GB of storage and either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. Now the company has released 8 GB of RAM, but with the same amount of storage. However, the Redmi Pad supports microSD cards up to 1 TB, so lack of storage is not a problem. For reference, the new Redmi Pad offers the same basic features as its siblings, a MediaTek Helio G99 SoC, a 10.6-inch display, an 8,000mAh battery, and dual cameras.

At launch, the 8GB RAM SKU is priced at CNY 1,799 (~US$251), CNY 300 (~US$42) more expensive than the 6GB RAM version, but CNY 500 (~US$70) cheaper than its 4GB RAM counterpart. expensive . The announcement of the new Redmi Pad SKU in China did not coincide with the corresponding announcement globally. If the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 is anything to go by, this new premier Redmi Pad SKU may remain a Chinese exclusive indefinitely.
