Here’s the thing about the 2022 World Cup: no night games.
At least not at night Right here. The 2022 FIFA World Cup is being played in Qatar, which is eight hours ahead of New York. So if you want to watch the game—and enjoy an old fashioned drink while doing so—you’ll be drinking some day.
These bars are perfect for you.
Some open early. Some have their own. Some have a ton of TVs – and they promise to show football, or – football.
The US plays its first game against Wales at 2pm on Monday. Here are some bars that will feature this game – and many more.
Black Bear Bar & Grill, Hoboken
You can’t miss a game here — Black Bear sports more than 50 HDTVs and fun crazy 25 foot HDTV on the wall above the bar. It’s open early on some days – call to see which one – and will show football every day except Thanksgiving, when it’s closed. Owner Dave Facey wanted to recreate the cool atmosphere, and so he collected pieces from old bars in the Adirondacks to furnish the bar with reclaimed wood, vintage signs and antiques. The menu includes burgers, sliders, salads and entrees, and, on weekends, there’s a bloody mary bar. Black Bear is closed on Tuesdays.

Redd’s, Carlstadt
Redd’s is just minutes from Met Life Stadium – where the World Cup will be played in 2026. Until then, surround yourself with its 35 flatscreen TVs and enjoy $6 pizza, half price appetizers and $3.50 pints of beer during all US games. There are communal tables and a large craft beer menu. The menu includes burgers, soft Bavarian pretzels, fish and chips and salads.

Rock Bar & Grill, Clifton
Come for the beer, stay for the wings and the games. The Rock is a favorite of lifelong Clifton resident and chef Kenny West. “Good food, great people,” he said. “They have a pool table, craft beer and a special secret apple cider shot.” There are 12 LED TVs, but if the game doesn’t hold your interest – there are seven dart boards.

Jimmy Geez, Haledon
The bar is equipped for the tournament with 12 televisions — and they promise football will be playing on them. The 2 p.m. games should extend into happy hour, which runs from 3 to 6 p.m. and includes specials on draft beer, Tito’s vodka and margaritas. Jimmy Geez is known for its great beer selection, and its wings – one year it served 3,000 pounds of chicken wings to the Super Bowl.

Beer Place & Grill, Fort Lee
With a name like Beer Place, you can expect an excellent selection from its 30 different tap lines. The sports center has 35 high-definition TVs around the room, so you don’t miss any of the action. Expect upscale pub food, including salads and flatbreads, as well as pastas and entrees.

Fox & Falcon, South Orange
There’s a fireplace at Fox & Falcon, a cozy place to warm up when the temperatures drop. The bar has 10 screens – and a large screen projector in the back room. During the fun, expect discounts on draft beer – there are 25 lines – wine by quartino and house cocktails. The menu includes deviled eggs, beef tartare, vegan tonkotsu ramen and chicken pie.

The Yard, Haledon
The Yard will open early for 11pm games on weekends. Watch the games on its 11 TVs – including two on the patio and one in the field (there is outdoor heating and a tent). There will be half-price wings, lunch specials — and if you come in wearing a sweater your first mug of beer is $1.

Blue 42, Elmwood Park
Blue 42 may officially be a Green Bay Packers bar, but it will be showing every football game — except for the one that starts at 5 a.m. “We definitely don’t open at 5,” laughed owner Giorgio Biancamano. The bar will have gifts, including shirts, scarves and rings, and will serve aluminum Budweiser bottles produced exclusively for the World Cup (Budweiser is a sponsor). The place is known for its wings and Italian food – don’t miss the wings OMFG. “They are our main sellers,” Biancamano said. “They are the best.”

Grasshopper Greene, Morristown
The Grasshopper from Hlaza is known to be a football player – and he is from every World Cup. It will be decorated with flags of all kinds, and will offer commemorative Budweiser beer bottles. The menu includes signature chicken wings, house beef chili and Reuben sliders.

Midland Brew House, Saddle Brook
This area of Saddle Brook is a hot spot for football fans in North Jersey. For Super Bowl LIV, it offers game day food and drink packages including wings, bar pies, and packs of Bud or Coors Lite. The bar will also be running regular Sunday football specials like discounted prices on quesadillas, nachos, mozzarella sticks and more, as well as drink specials including 4 Fireball shots, $5 Bloody Marys, Mimosas and Bellinis, and $25 White Claw pitchers.
