Cairo: Saudi anti-narcotics police said they seized more than 2 million drug pills hidden in a batch of wooden boards used for kitchens in the capital Riyadh.
Major Mohammed Al Najeidi, spokesman for the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, said four foreigners, including a Syrian resident, two Syrian pilgrims and a Pakistani, were seized with amphetamine tablets.
The source of the illegal items was not disclosed.
In recent months, Saudi Arabia has announced that it has stopped several attempts to smuggle drugs into its territory.
Last week, Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry announced that border guards had stopped a bid to smuggle large quantities of narcotics into several parts of the kingdom.

Eighty-two smugglers were arrested in connection with the intercepted activities. According to the ministry, among them are 18 Saudi citizens and 64 people who violated the kingdom’s border security regulations.
