Have you ever had an unbearably itchy bottom? Read my experience with vaginal infections.

About a month or two ago, I tried cloth pads. They are economical, reusable and good for the environment. So I went online and bought three different ones.

I tried them and realized they weren’t for me and decided to stick with my regular biodegradable pads. However, I did not know that those cloths also cause vaginal infections.

Itching and redness

After my period, I decided to shave because of the discomfort. The discomfort did not go away, instead I started to experience itching and redness. I turned to my friend, the doctor.

He asked me a lot of questions about the situation and the situation there. One of the main symptoms of vaginal infection is foul odor and green discharge. At first there was no discharge, but the itching continued to increase.

It was almost impossible to sit properly in the office without crossing my legs or moving my hips to help me secretly scratch an itch.

However, it was itchy at first, so my friend suggested I wear commandos while sleeping, no pajamas or panties. I was relieved to heed her advice as friction with clothing can aggravate the itch and make it worse.

HPV consultation revealed a fungal infection

Days and weeks passed and I finally made an appointment with a gynecologist for a consultation about the HPV vaccine (recommended to women to prevent the risk of cervical cancer). When I told her that I had encountered the tissue, the gynecologist did a small test and said that there was an infection. I had green discharge that I couldn’t see, and the area around the genitals and canal was red.

Dr. Hirday Kapoor, Senior Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Cloudnine Group of Hospitals, Punjabi Bagh, New DelhiShe says vaginal discharge can tell a lot about our health.

For example, in the case of a yeast infection, a person will experience a white curd-like discharge along with inflammation and itching around the vagina.

In the case of a bacterial infection, excessive discharge and itching occur. In the case of a yeast infection, there is a white curd or cheesy vaginal discharge and itching. Trichomonas infection produces green discharge.

But one thing to remember is that there is no reason behind a vaginal infection. Common causes include sexually transmitted infections, improper grooming, using perfumes, not changing pads or tampons frequently, not regularly cleaning menstrual devices such as menstrual cups or discs, or using laundromats.

Treatment of fungal infections

After a quick look at my vagina, the doctor told me that I was suffering from a yeast infection. He prescribed an ointment for itching and a suppository for infection.

Ironically, the pill he proposed was supposed to enter the vaginal canal. For someone who has a problem with insertable period products, you can anticipate my prohibitions against a tablet that needs to insert.

I have vaginismus, which my friend and doctor have told me is my body’s automatic fear response to anything entering my vaginal canal. Anyway, I got the suppositories.

Interestingly, they were shaped like bullets. I joked that I would shoot them in the canal, but my sister didn’t think it was funny.

If you have to use a tablet or suppository, the first thing to remember is to wash your hands thoroughly before and after administration.

Second, spread your legs wide for a clear view of the sheath and gently slide the suppository shaft into the canal with the help of your fingers. You should place the 1 inch bullet at least 1.5 inches to 2 inches into the channel and wait for it to melt.

I had no problem with input. However, you should know that when the suppository or pill starts to dissolve, the vagina will throw it out with the discharge absorbed by your panties. If you have trouble getting your underwear clean, you can use a panty liner and throw it in the trash the next morning.

Although I’m fine now, the vaginal infection was a bit of a nightmare. If you or your friend notices similar symptoms, it is better to consult a gynecologist without delay.
