After massive layoffs, microblogging platform Twitter is vacating its flexible office space in India.

People familiar with the matter said the company has started vacating seats in Mumbai under its WeWork arrangement and is serving a three-month notice period. Twitter has vacated its TEC space at One Horizon in Gurgaon and will vacate the seat there.

The total number of vacant seats around both the centers will be around 150, said the people quoted above.

The remaining employees of the Gurgaon TEC center have been shifted to the Mehrauli TEC center in Delhi, they said. The company’s marketing and policy teams operate out of this center. The company has moved its entire communications team to India. An email has been sent

Some former employees said they heard rumors about the company vacating these positions.

“Given what’s happening globally on Twitter, there will be some additional seats by March,” said a person familiar with the matter.

Earlier this month, Twitter laid off its entire team in India and fired about 180 of its 230-odd employees in India, according to media reports. The layoffs were spread across content, partnerships, content curation, sales and social marketing teams. According to previous reports, very few employees are said to have received the surviving emails.

According to Knight Frank India’s India Real Estate Update report, the commercial office sector recorded a seven-quarter high in leasing volumes in the third quarter of this year. Transaction volume in India’s top eight cities stood at 16.1 million square feet during the quarter.

The co-working or managed office sector witnessed the highest growth in total transaction share at 23% as against 6% in the third quarter of 2021. According to reports, the volume of transactions by this sector has increased by 380% year-on-year.
