A resident of Haryana died due to electric shock

A 45-year-old man from Haryana was electrocuted when he touched a downed power line at Vadakkipalayam near Pollachi.

The deceased has been identified as Khurjid Syed (45) from Raipur, Haryana.

According to the Vadakkipalayam police, Syed and another person, namely Ajeem, had come to Coimbatore district on November 12 to deliver cattle fodder. After delivering the cargo, both parties returned on November 17.

When their truck reached Sulakkal near Vadakkipalayam around 2 pm, the two noticed a low power line on the roadside. Police said Syed held up the line with a wooden pole to avoid hitting the truck.

But the line slipped off the post and landed on Syed’s back. He was initially admitted to Pollachi District Headquarters Hospital before being shifted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. Syed died on Saturday unresponsive to treatment.
