The Biden administration has been trying to crack down on Americans’ social media posts since the “Disinformation Control Board” was fired, Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley.
Hawley has been chasing Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for months to explain what his office is and why.
In fact, a new report has shed light on the efforts of the Department of Homeland Security to filter the statements of Americans who are concerned about the administration on key national issues.

“Under your tenure, you have turned the Department of Homeland Security into a machine to suppress free speech,” Hawley wrote to Mayorkas in the Monday letter. “According to explosive reports, you are also hiding information about your efforts to suppress information you don’t like – in defiance of congressional surveillance requests and laws of the government.”
As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Hawley had the opportunity to question Mayorkas during hearings of both committees on Wednesday and on Thursday.
The Heartlander asked Hawley if he would get an answer from Mayorkas about the impeachment inquiry.

I attacked him today with these emails upon emails from the federal agencies that are suppressing , forcing social media companies to censor what Americans say – about COVID vaccines, about COVID mask rights, about the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.
“He denies everything, but he’s a liar. He’s lied to us all the time. He’s lied about their ban. He’s lied about the propaganda campaign. And he’s lying. he is, therefore, he must resign or be dismissed.

“Yes, they want to,” Hawley told the Heartlander. “I mean, this is their new territory. Now they think that under this administration they’re going to be the national governing body, and they’re going to go around telling Americans, ‘Hey, if you disagree with Anthony Fauci, you’re going to be punished. you , you will be tracked and followed.’
“I don’t think it’s illegal at all. It’s illegal at all. And we have to deal with that. I hope that’s something that the new Republican majority in the House will pursue.
“And if we have to eliminate parts of DHS, if that means we have to take away their control in many areas, we have to do that, and Mayorkas has to be eliminated.”
After a fierce backlash from the right and the left, Mayorkas in August abandoned plans for a “Freedom Control Board” to monitor what his agency considers misinformation. in American social media.
But The Intercept’s report says “there is a strategic document that shows that the underground work is still going on.”
“In other words, you proposed to eliminate that board but essentially transferred its anti-information activities to other groups in your Department,” Hawley wrote to Mayorkas. “Despite my repeated requests for information in the letters of April 28th, May 23rd, July 7th, and July 13th, you have not been completely clear about the entire work of your Department.”

Of his Senate colleagues, Hawley said, “I don’t think they understand the breadth, scope of the ability to shut down government-controlled information.
“Our Constitution doesn’t allow the government to use private companies to suppress information. You can’t do that. You can’t go to a private company and say, ‘Hey, we want We want you to go ahead and oppress these Americans, these citizens. Our First Amendment doesn’t allow it, and that’s exactly what Joe Biden is doing.
The idea behind setting up a National Security Agency is to protect the country from foreign enemies. That’s not what DHS is doing under Biden, Hawley said.
“They’re not targeting foreign enemies,” Hawley said. “They’re going after the Americans. Their own internal documents, which we’ve seen now, show that they’re interested in the domestic information of the American people. law.”
Regarding the decision of the Senate Republicans to keep Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, as their leader, Hawley and Missouri Sen.-elect Eric Schmitt did not want to keep McConnell. He asked a pre-election meeting for Schmitt who should be the leader, Hawley said, “not Mitch McConnell.”
“Well, I didn’t vote for that,” Hawley said Thursday after the Wednesday’s presidential election. “I have been very clear. I think the leadership needs to be changed. I did not support him as a leader, so the next two years will be good.
“I hope we see a change of course. I don’t know if we can, but I can say from my part, I will always stand up for what Missourians believe in. I live for what Missouri wants, not Washington, D.C. And that’s my policy.
