The Argentine boy’s death was not related to the vaccine, despite social media claims | Tech Reddy

Social media is trying to make a connection between the COVID-19 vaccine and the death of a 4-year-old boy in Argentina because of his appearance in an ad campaign promoting vaccines.

Several Instagram posts have shared a photo of a headline from conservative news website The Western Journal that reads, “Vaccine poster child dies suddenly at age 4.”

The captions on the posters did not link to the full story and suggested that the boy’s death was linked to vaccines, specifically the COVID-19 vaccine. One of the posts shared on November 13 featured hashtags mentioning Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration.

Another said, “We want a modern day Nuremberg trial! What they did to these innocent children will never be forgotten.”

The media’s claims appear to be based only on the headline, not the text itself, which says the child died of pneumonia.

The Instagram ads were flagged as part of Instagram’s efforts to combat false and misleading information on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)

Several Argentine media reported that Santino Godoy Blanco died on November 3 after coming down with a fever and being admitted to a local hospital. An autopsy determined that Blanco had died of bilateral lung cancer, which affects both lungs.

Blanco appeared in an advertising campaign by Argentina’s Ministry of Health encouraging children to be vaccinated against measles, mumps, polio and rubella. The war has nothing to do with the COVID-19 vaccine.

We reject the claim that the 4-year-old child’s death from the vaccination program is linked to fake vaccines.
