BENSALEM, Pa. (Gray News) – Police in Pennsylvania say a 16-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old girl.
Bensalem Police received a call Friday about the homicide, according to police reports. The caller told them her daughter had received an Instagram video message from a 16-year-old friend, later identified as Joshua Cooper.
During the conversation, Cooper said he had just hit a man and showed the man’s legs and feet covered in blood. He asked for help disposing of the body, the 911 operator said.
Officers went to Cooper’s home, where they found a young woman dead on the bathroom floor with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the victim was 13 years old.
Police say “extensive measures” were taken to clean up the crime scene.
Cooper allegedly fled the scene when officers arrived, but after a brief search, he was taken into custody.
The 16-year-old faces charges of criminal homicide, possession of criminal tools and tampering with or tampering with physical evidence. He was denied bail and sent to the Edison Children’s Detention Center.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 7, according to the Inquirer.
